This is the last page of the 1934 book “Bookbinding Made Easy” by Lee M. Klinefelter, borrowed from the local library. The first person to take this out had to return it on Feb 13, 1935. This is the kind of cultural stuff that will disappear once we have “elibraries,” where there will be no more tangible connections with people who wanted to learn about bookbinding - there will be no more books to be taken out of libraries, and there will be no more people wanting to learn about how to produce books (in fact, there might also not be many people left who actually read books - people never talk about this much, do they?)

Of course, now I’m just waiting for some artist to scan the last pages of books to produce a series (like the backs of paintings). Hey, you saw it here first. And if you didn’t - email me, and I’ll share the name of that artist.

Needless to say, this scan is not motivated by a desire to create art, it’s motivated by seeing the history of this particular book. There’s a beauty to it that Kindle fans might never be able to grasp.
